Current research is in the area of mathematical modeling of the high-temperature packed bed thermal storage systems. His contributions include participation as a co-Principal Investigator in a USDOE sponsored research contract (worth a little over $600,000) which covered the mathematical modeling and the experimental testing phases on the characterization of a high-temperature thermal energy storage system utilizing phase-change materials. Most recently, research on characterization of a pebble bed heater was carried out at the NASA John C. Stennis Space Center. Research interest is in the following general areas:
Dr. Adebiyi has worked with the Central Electricity Research Laboratory (CERL) in England and the Shell Petroleum Company in Nigeria. These have afforded him a unique and international perspective on some of the research problems of interest to the power generation and the oil production industries. He is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the British Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He is currently serving a second term as the Associate Technical Editor (Energy Storage) for the ASME Journal of Solar Energy Engineering. He has authored/co-authored 3 books on Thermodynamics, 11 journal articles and over 20 conference papers and presentations.
