More Contgratulations to W5YD Members

W5YD would like to congratulate Lee Hathcock (AE5IO) and Brian Sells (KE5UGH) on their recent license upgrades on June 28, 2008. Lee received his Amateur Extra licnese, and Brian received his General license.

Clay County Amateur Radio Club Trade Day

The Clay County amateur radio club is hosting a trade day this saturday morning beginning at 8:00 AM at their club house in West Point. There will be food and drinks availible, and plenty of space for people to buy and sell equipment. If you are interested in attending, please e-mail the W5YD president. The club is planning to meet at Simrall Hall around 7:30 A.M to caravan over to West Point. If you are unable to meet, there is a flyer with a map availible here.

W5YD at the Rock-Crusher Classic

Thanks to all that came out to help at the third race in teh South Central Regional Championship Series. The Starkville club, along with W5YD are featured on the Mississppi chapter of the ARRL's website for service at the race.

W5YD looks forward to active service and communicating with the newest amateur radio operators

Upcoming W5YD events

  • Hunstville (AL) Hamfest -- August 16-17, 2008
  • MSU Student Involvement Fair -- August 20, 2008 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

W5YD holds monthly meetings on
the fourth Thursdays of the month (August-October, January-April) at
7PM in the Simrall electrical and computer engineering building.
The exact location will be posted on the building doors or on the door of the W5YD shack in Simrall rm. 433A.
Requests to be let into the building and talk in on the W5YD 2m repeater: 146.805- no tone.

All W5YD members and the general public are invited to attend.


The weekly W5YD net is held every Sunday night at 2030 on the W5YD 2m repeater (146.805- no tone).

If you are interested in hosting the net, email the club president.

Mr. Bill Gearhiser (W5EPW/SK) was honored in Spring 2003 by having the W5YD club station named for him.
