Ambassador
O. Faruk Logoglu,
Ambassador, Embassy of the Republic of
Turkey
Our distinguished guest speaker,
Ambassador O. Faruk Logoglu, briefed the Executive
Lecture Forum
on United States-Turkey relations and the Turkish role
in the fight against international terrorism. If
anybody in
the world understands the terrorist acts against the
United States and the tragedy of September 11, said
the Ambassador, it is the Turkish people, since Turkey
has suffered from terrorism for more than 15 years.
In connection with Iraq, the Ambassador underlined
that in a post-Saddam Iraq, the Kurdish, Arabic, and
Turkish population should have
equal rights; and Iraq as a nation should be kept in
the present geographical form. He also spoke about the
Turkish-Israeli relationship. He believes that
the relationship between these two democracies, namely
Turkey and Israel, is the guaranty of peace and
stability in the Middle East. Interestingly enough,
the Ambassador closed his remarks by saying that the
Arab friends of Turkey are admitting this fact.
