My Research Interests - Plant Ecology

Work in my lab involves projects ranging from plot-scale studies of mechanisms enabling plant colonization and persistence to regional distribution of invasive plants and plants that host invasive insect herbivores.  Objectives of the individual research projects range from identification of biotic or abiotic factors influencing plant distribution to application of plant associations for indexing ecosystem integrity and predictive modeling of plant distribution.  These projects are aimed at both basic and applied research much of which takes place in an interdisciplinary environment, with collaborators from across the University and beyond.
