Mississippi State University's Environmental Sciences Certification and Minor Program: Curriculum Guidelines |
||||||||||
|
General
Requirements: A total of 22 semester hours are required in the following four component areas with at least six hours from the social sciences and humanities and six hours from the natural sciences. Courses typically serve as electives within any traditional disciplinary major. No more than two courses can be double-counted between the ENS certificate and the student's academic major. Introduction to Environmental Science (ENS 2102) and Environmental Sciences Practicum (ENS 4102) are required of all students. It is recommended that ENS 2102 be taken as the entry-level course. Priority for enrollment in ENS 4102 will be given to students who 1) are enrolled in the Environmental Sciences Program and have arranged to conduct a project with a faculty member conducting research in environmental sciences, 2) are enrolled in the program and are near their graduation date, 3) have arranged to conduct a project with a faculty member conducting research in environmental sciences but are not enrolled in the Environmental Sciences program, or 4) are enrolled in the program and have made satisfactory progress toward program completion.
* Other courses may be applied to these requirements, subject to review by program coordinator and oversight committee. Current course offerings are accessible in MSU's
online class schedule, along with the current course catalog through the
MSU WWW Information System.
