Email: vc116@msstate.edu The goal of this project is to explore the possibility for production of peppermint, spearmint, and Japanese mint in Mississippi. Furthermore, to evaluate means for increasing yields, essential oil synthesis and accumulation, and the development of these crops as new high-value crops for Mississippi producers. We are testing several varieties from Mentha piperita , Mentha arvensins , Mentha gracilis and Mentha spicata in different locations in Mississippi. The effect of environmental conditions and nitrogen fertilization on productivity, essential oil accumulation, composition and bioactivity of Mentha piperita, Spearmint and Mentha arvensis in Mississippi. |
