The Department of Foreign Languages administers placement tests in Spanish, Latin, French, German and Chinese. The tests are administered in the Language Media Center, Lee 219, and are free of charge. A student may earn up to 6 credit hours in Foreign Languages, but the test must be taken before any language courses are taken at MSU and can only be taken once per semester. Additionally, the National CLEP test is available through the MSU testing center. Students can earn up to 12 credit hours, however, this test must also be taken before any language courses are taken at MSU. *Note: credits are not given for both tests.* Native speakers of a target language cannot receive credit hours through the language placement test and must complete language levels I-IV before receiving any credits.
