DIANE E. WALL

Professor Diane Wall, now retired, focused on American Politics, and specialized in the study of law and women's studies. She received her PhD from Michigan State University, and has been at MSU since 1983. Professor Wall taught specialized courses in Constitutional Powers, Civil Liberties, Administrative Law, Gender and Politics, and Mississippi Judicial System. She has published and researched extensively on the Mississippi judicial system and legal issues. Wall previously served as Chair of the College's Pre-Law Advisors, our department's Undergraduate Coordinator who advised all freshmen and transfer students, and was an active leader in the Women's Studies program.

Wall's tireless and dedicated work with her students has been recognized by her winning the university's Academic Advising Award (pictured above on the left), the coveted national Outstanding Advisor Award presented by the National Academic Advising Association, the Alumni Association Upper-Level Teaching Award, and the College of Arts and Sciences' Paideia Award. Her research on judicial issues has been published in such notable journals as Southeastern Political Review, Justice Systems Journal, Judicature, and Journal of Mississippi History. Wall's leadership of the Pre-Law program allowed students to meet with prominent jurors, prepare for the law school admissions exam, choose the most desirable law school for their career interests, and win prestigious scholarships.
