* As explained in the IHL revised MSU Core Curriculum Requirements published by the Office of the Provost students must register for all course work mandated by MSU's placement system. Using ACT/SAT scores as criteria, the University identifies students with special needs in the areas of English and mathematics. MSU then recommends placement for these individuals in courses designed to enhance the student's chance for success in higher level English and mathematics courses. If placed in a "help" class, the student must satisfy course requirements prior to advancing to the next level.
* Students should make use of services offered by the MSU Career Services Center during their first semester as UND. These services include interest inventories, career counseling and major exploration workshops which should help the student declare a major within the year.
* Students prepared to declare a major should do so no later than 30 days before the first day of pre-registration advising to assure all documents are in the proper place before pre-registration. Students declaring majors after that time will have their files transferred at the close of MSU's telephone registration period or as time allows.
* Advising Center files on UND students declaring majors are transferred by authorized courier (i.e., Advising Center staff) or by campus mail only as established in a policy from the Office of the Provost dated September 23, 1993.
* Students should avail themselves of every benefit available to enhance their educational experience including services offered by the Learning Center, Counseling Center, Student Support Services, Career Services Center, as well as the UAAC.
* New RAC numbers are assigned each semester yet can not be given over the telephone or to students who have not completed pre-registration advising. Students satisfying the pre-registration requirement are welcome to present identification in person at the Center during normal business hours should the need arise for access to their RAC number.
* "Academic Support" contracts, identifying specific actions to be taken, are required of students falling below a 2-point MSU or CUM average each semester until MSU and CUM average reaches or exceeds a 2-point.
