Today's animal and dairy industries involve a complex array of disciplines that study livestock production from conception to consumption. The competitive job market requires versatile and well-educated individuals with a basic understanding of livestock production and product processing. Graduates of the Animal and Dairy Sciences Department are well-qualified to meet the requirements of demanding employers in a variety of occupations in the animal industry.
Further, the Bearden Dairy Research Center and Leveck Animal Research Center, which support departmental teaching and research activities, provide our students contact with modern techniques in animal agriculture as well as the opportunity for practical work experience. These experiences give the students insight into many technical challenges associated with the animal and dairy industries.
