Meat products for sale

The Meats Laboratory, located on Stone Blvd. across from Dorman Hall, is operated for the purpose of teaching and research in meats in the Animal & Dairy Science Department and in the Food Science & Technology Department at Mississippi State University. Products from these activities are made available for sale to the general public on a retail basis. By nature of the work in teaching and research there is not always a constant supply of any or all meats products. However, there are such items as country style hams, country style bacon, pork sausage, smoked sausage, ground beef, pork chops, picnics, boston butts, pork cutlets and pork spareribs which are generally available.

We do recommend that a person call the numbers listed above to find out what items are available rather than driving out to find the item(s) wanted not to be available. In addition to retail cuts, beef and lamb carcasses are also sold by the quarter, half or whole carcass and are cut, wrapped and frozen to the customers specifications. While these items are not always available, orders may be placed at any time for them to be prepared when they do become available. Prices for items sold at the MSU Meats Laboratory change with market conditions. Please feel free to call to get currect product availability and pricing information at any time. Our office hours are from 7:30 to 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
