PURPOSE
The purpose of this Academic Operating Policy and Procedure (AOP) is to insure an understanding regarding the issuance of a certificate of recognition to students who complete a sequence of credit courses.
REVIEW
This AOP will be reviewed every four years or whenever circumstances require an earlier review by the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs (APAA) with recommendations for revision presented to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
POLICY/PROCEDURE
A Certificate of Recognition will be awarded only when the student has completed a planned program of at least 12 credit hours. Some programs may require more credit hours. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required in all courses taken as part of an undergraduate certificate program, while a minimum 3.0 is required in all courses taken as part of a graduate certificate program. Programs, departments, or colleges may raise the grade point average requirement as appropriate. Successful completion of a certificate program will appear on the academic transcript.
