Department of Communication

This major requires 128 hours of study with at least 45 of these hours in communication. Students majoring in communication select from five areas of emphasis: Broadcasting, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations and Theatre. Students can also double emphasize two areas by completing the course requirements for both emphases.

Our graduates have found jobs in a variety of fields. Because almost everything has a communication aspect, our graduates can be found in both direct and indirect communication positions. Opportunities after graduation include positions in writing, directing, sales, marketing, film, management, design and layout, production, reporting, education, business, advertising, public relations, government relations, politics and many more.
