Kang Xia Kang Xia holds a bachelor's degree in soil chemistry from the Beijing Agricultural University, an MS in soil chemistry from Louisiana State University and a doctoral degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Xia was hired as research director for the State Chemical Laboratory in 2006 and holds a joint appointment in the Chemistry department.

Research Summary

Dr. Xia is the Director of Research Division and Industrial and Agricultural Services Division of the Mississippi State Chemical Laboratory (MSCL) and assistant professor in chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of Mississippi State University. As director for research, she heads the research projects at MSCL and her research activities include developing chromatography analytical methods for organic compounds in environmental matrixes and investigating environmental occurrence and fate of organic contaminants, especially emerging contaminants in soil and water. She also manages the daily operation of the Industrial and Agricultural Services Division for sample analysis.
