Tingyu Li received a B.S. in Chemistry from Lanzhou in 1984, and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Harvard University in 1991 under the guidance of Professor Yoshito Kishi. He continued his education as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California Los Angeles with Professor Francois Diederich, and was a research associate at the Scripps Research Institute with Professors Richard Lerner and Kim Janda. Dr. Li joined the faculty of Mississippi State University in the fall of 2003. Dr. Li also works as a program director at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Our current interests include the development of new separation methods and alternative energy. We intend to apply the principles of organic chemistry to develop novel and efficient separation methods. We also intend to make alternative energy more attractive by lowering its production costs or by minimizing its environmental impacts.
