Chemistry Minor

A minor in chemistry requires a total of 22 hours of chemistry courses, and a minimum of 14 of those hours must be at the 3000-level or above. A student must have a 2.00 average over those 22 hours and at least 11 of the hours must have been completed at MSU. Typical courses are:

CH 1213 Chemistry I CH 1211 Chemistry I lab 4 hours
CH 1223 Chemistry II CH 1211 Chemistry II lab 4 hours
CH 4513 Organic I CH 4511 Organic I lab 4 hours
CH 4523 Organic II CH 4521 Organic II lab 4 hours
CH 3xx3 or CH 4xx3 3 hours
CH 4xx3 3 hours

Many Chemical Engineers take CH 4413 (Physical Chemistry I) and a second course such as CH 3213 (Inorganic Chemistry), CH 4423 (Physical Chemistry II), CH 4213 (Advanced Inorganic Chemistry), or CH 4303 (Environmental Chemistry) to complete the requirement. Please note that biochemistry courses (BCH xxxx) and directed individual study (CH 4000) do NOT satisfy these requirements.
