Freshman Textbooks

Hunter Henry Scholarship ($10,000)

Awarded to an incoming freshman who shows financial need. Distributed in $1,250 increments for 8 semesters. The awardee must maintain a 3.0 QPA and remain a full-time student majoring in chemistry.

Bully

Hach Scientific Teaching Scholarship ($24,000)

Awarded to two students who are willing to commit to the teaching profession upon graduation. These awards may be made to incoming freshmen. Recipients must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are full-time chemistry majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The maximum award (subject to demonstrated need) is valued at $6,000/year, and may be renewed for up to four years provided the awardee remains a full-time student majoring in chemistry.

Alumni Scholarship ($2,000)

Awarded to an incoming freshman and offered to the winner of the Spring Discovery Day Chemistry Competition. Distributed in $250 increments for 8 semesters. Awardee must remain a full-time student majoring in chemistry.

L. C. Behr Scholarship ($1,000)

Donated by the family of Lyle C. Behr. Awarded in increments of $500 for 2 semesters on the basis of scholarship to a junior or senior chemistry major following the ACS-approved BS curriculum. The recipient must have completed 17 hours in chemistry with at least a 3.0 quality point average.

Mary Virginia Simrall Endowed Undergraduate Research Scholarship ($1,000)

Candidates for this scholarship must be a chemistry major with a minimum 2.5 GPA and be actively involved in an original research project with a chemistry faculty member. The research is expected to result in the publication of the work in a scientific journal and to be presented by the student at a national research conference.

Chemistry Alumni/Dow Chemical Scholarships (varies)

Donated by the Dow Chemical Corporation. Scholarships are available to chemistry majors after their freshman year, awarded based upon academic performance.

Don G. Wright Memorial Scholarship ($1,250/semester)

Awarded to an entering freshman, sophomore or junior college transfer who shows financial need. Awardee must maintain a 3.0 QPA and remain a full-time student majoring in chemistry.

Peeples Endowed Scholarship (not yet available)

Will be awarded after the accumulation of sufficient earnings. Awarded to a sophomore who has achieved a 3.0 QPA and is a full-time student majoring in chemistry.

Sheeley Scholarship ($1,000)

Awarded to a full-time freshman or an incoming freshman who demonstrates need. Distributed in $500 increments for 2 semesters. Student must maintain a 3.25 QPA; incoming freshman must have a 90 or better average.
