James Myles is a county agent with the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service and has worked with the LA (lower Alabama) citrus growers for over 12 years. James will share his knowledge of the commercial citrus industry and his own backyard experience to help you successfully grow a variety of citrus in your garden.

11:20-12:00 Herb Gardening Isn't Just for Old Hippies
Dr. Lelia Kelly Extension Horticulturist and Mississippi Gardener columnist will show you the fun in growing, harvesting and utilizing herbs. Whether you want to grow this years Mississippi Medallion award winning Purple Ruffles basil and make a tantalizing pesto for dinner or add a touch of cilantro to this weekends fajitas you'll leave with and new enthusiasm for growing herbs.

Roy Clark is a professional landscape contractor on the Gulf Coast who specializes in water garden design and construction. Listen to Roy describe the various types of water features and how they can be used to beautify your landscape.

1:00-1:40 Tough Plants for the Gulf Coast
Felder Rushing award winning author and host of the popular Yards and Gardens radio talk show will enlighten you the on the toughest plants for the gulf coast. Rushing a columnist in The Clarion-Ledger is the author of several books including the award winning Gardening Southern Style, Passalong Plants and his latest titled Tough Plants for the Southern Garden.

1:40-2:20 Daylilies for Coastal Gardens
Kathy Homsey is the co-owner of Gulf Haven Gardens, a specialty daylily nursery in Long Beach, MS. Kathy is a daylily grower and hybridizer whose product sells as far north as Canada! Her session will take the mystery out of daylily varieties and share some basics for using daylilies in the landscape.

2:20-3:00 Backyard Birding
Dr. Mark Woodrey has been studying birds since he was 12 years old when he began bird-watching in southwestern Ohio. Now Mark has a doctorate in the subject and is an employee of the Coastal Research and Extension Center. He also teaches Coastal Ornithology at the Gulf Coast Research Lab in Ocean Springs. His topic today is entitled " Native Fruit-producing Plants for Birds". It will provide an overview of Mississippi birds and tell us how to create a bird sanctuary with attractive, fruit producing plants.

3:00-3:40 Making Hypertufa Pots
Extension Horticulturist and Mississippi Gardener columnist Donna Beliech will demonstrate the art of making the old world looking hypertufa pots perfect for bonsai plantings, herbs, or anything your hearts desire. These pots aren't found for sale anywhere but you'll be the envy of your neighbors when make you own.

3:40-4:20 Hot New Plants and Ideas for the Gulf Coast Gardener

Norman Winter Extension Horticulturist, author and SunHerald columnist will show you the hottest new plants, new uses of old tried and true flowers and the latest in captivating combinations.

1:20-2:00 The Art of Bonsai!
Patrick Lanasa is an accomplished Bonsai hobbyist and is the founder of Mississippi's only Bonsai club. Pat learned bonsai technique while living in California nearly 20 years ago. Today he and his assistant, Mr. Frank Smith, will demonstrate the basics of Bonsai!

2:00-2:40 Camellias for the Gulf Coast
As the past president of the Gulf Coast Camellia society and a camellia enthusiast for many years, Bruce Stinson knows there are many varieties of camellias to choose from. In this session, Bruce will show us a selection of old and new camellia varieties with suggestions for planting and care.
