CREC Main Office


The central CREC office is located at its new office complex in Biloxi, Mississippi. Currently, this facility accommodates the Head of the CREC, eleven scientists and specialists and five professional and support staff. The research program of the CREC can currently be subdivided into six general topic areas that reflect the unique research and extension needs of the area served by the center. These are:
   
Coastal and Offshore Aquaculture
Coastal Environment
Commercial Fisheries

Ornamental Horticulture and Vegetables
Natural Resource Economics
Seafood Processing and Safety
   

   
Complementing a research program focusing on the above issues, the CREC maintains an on-going informal educational program in a wide variety of areas all of which directly affect the quality of life of citizens of South Mississippi. In addition to the educational programs generally undertaken by extension service agents dealing with general agriculture, and youth development and 4-H, the CREC has programs in the following areas:
