• Systems Analysis is an Engineering approach that consists of drilling down into each nursery function to determine the actual requirements and expectations of each process.
• Each major process within a given nursery is identified.
  • Propagation
  • Planting / Transplanting
  • Fertilizing / Spraying
  • Pruning
  • Shipping
• Key to this study is development of an understanding of the nursery process inter-relationships; that is, how each process impacts other neighboring processes.
• Processes with common requirements and expectations are better suited, generally, to global process improvements, including mechanization.
• A wide range of mechanized equipment has become available to the nursery grower.
