| SMBES was established in 1902
at McNeill and was moved to Poplarville in 1920. The station
operates three units located in Poplarville, White
Sands and McNeill. Poplarville
unit has 97 acres with approximately 20 acres leased to the USDA-ARS
Small Fruits Research Station. The horticulture,
agronomy, and sugarcane seed stock programs are located at this
