Food Science

There are three undergraduate academic programs:

Science Option - This program provides highly technical coverage of microbiological, chemical, and physical properties of foods, food components, and food contaminants. Students considering graduate school and/or research development work upon graduation should choose this option. Curriculum (pdf) and flowchart (pdf)

Processing/Business Option - This program provides technical and management guidance for application in the food processing industry. Basic skills in the sciences as well as business and management expertise will be developed by students choosing this option. Curriculum (pdf) and flowchart (pdf)

Food Safety Option - The goal of the Food Safety Program is to provide an opportunity for a student interested both in pre-veterinary medicine and food safety to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology and a subsequent Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree to those students accepted to the College of Veterinary Medicine.
