Arundel Quarry has been an active quarry since 1978, and they estimate that they have the potential for mining for another 100 years.
The rock quarried at Arundel is known as Port Depost Gneiss, a metamorphic rock that used to be granite. It is named for the town of Port Deposit and is approximatley 350 million years old.
