Rocks Common to Maryland  Identification

Mineral identification covers the most common/known minerals.  Groups will use such characteristics as hardness, cleavage, color, reaction to acid, streak, and a mineral guide to identify the following minerals.

Talc
Sulphur
Garnet
Quartz
Pyrite
Plagioclase Feldspar
Othroclase Feldspar
Gypsum
Magnetite
Biotite Mica
Muscovite Mica

Rocks common to Maryland will be identified using rock guides and information from handouts.  The following rocks will be given.
