Pleistocene Terraces

This picture shows one of the few areas in which the elevated Pleistocene Terraces are in contact with the lower elevation of the Holocene Mississippi River Flood Plain.

This is the western edge of the Mississippi Embayment which was flooded as recently as 1927.
