8:45 - Arrive at Dinosaur Ridge and wander
around visitor center.
Once the center opens, browse around inside to view the indoor exhibits.
9:30 - Begin hike up the ridge and visit
first 7 sites
10:30 - Stop and discuss Seaway,
Mangrove
Swamp, Dinosaur Tracks,
Trace
Fossils and Ripple Marks
11:00 - Continue hike and visit next 4 sites
11:30 - Discussion focusing on "hogbacks"
and age difference from each side of the ridge
11:45 - Lunch (There are areas at the top
of the ridge to take a lunch break)
12:15 - Begin afternoon hike along the ridge
and visit next 4 sites.
1:00 - Discussion focusing on the "puzzle"
and faults.
1:20 - Continue hike and visit last 3 sites.
1:45 - Discussion focusing on bulges
in rocks, dinosaur bones in the sandstone.
2:15 - Leave Dinosaur Ridge and head for
Red Rocks Park.
2:45 - Enter the park and arrive at the
upper most parking lot.
3:00 - Discuss the features seen here such
as the unconformity, erosion and monoliths found at Red
Rocks Park
5:00 - Return to hotel for dinner.
