Land Institute is about read this.
This is an alternative agriculture research facility started
Wes Jackson .  The researchers at the Land Institute are attempting to learn about the
processes that operate in natural systems and to link these processes to agricultural
production.  Surf the Land Institute website and it will become clear that this is an
important research facility.  There are opportunities for graduate and undergraduate
research.  Kansas State University at Manhattan is a world-class agricultural research
facility with a more mainstream approach.  K-State does some projects in conjunction
with the Land Institute.  Spend an hour or two looking at the K-State and Land Institute
websites to get a better understanding of agricultural issues.
