Welcome to Rocket City! The Marshall Space Flight Center has been involved in every major event that has occurred in space travel. Here at the Space and Rocket Center we will learn about they history of Rocket City as it pertains to the history of space travel. The Space and Rocket center was opened in 1970. The facility is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. The cost of admission, which includes an IMAX presentation is 16.95 for adults and 11.95 for children ages 3-12. Until September 11th the price of admission also included a tour bus to Marshall Space flight Center and Red Stone arsenal where one could see the space station assembly area, and neutral buoyancy simulator and rocket test pads.

7:15 a.m. Depart from Birmingham to Huntsville Directions and Map
7:15 - 9:00 a.m. The actual driving time to Huntsville is about an hour and 15 minutes but we will make several stops along the way. As we travel we will discuss the changes in topography, any major weathering and erosion features and topographic features that we see. We will stop at mile markers 287, 299, 316, 324 and 339 to collect rock samples, take pictures and discuss features.

10:00 to 10:15- Travel to Hotel - Take Nolan Avenue to Fearn St. and turn right. Turn left on Buckhead which becomes University. The Holiday Inn Express is eight miles on the right.
