ABOUT AGEM
The AGEM consortium is comprised of the state’s four doctoral degree granting institutions: Jackson State University (JSU), Mississippi State University (MSU), University of Mississippi (UM), and the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), in partnership with several state and regional HBCUs and smaller colleges. AGEM is a comprehensive program designed:
- To enhance entry into and the successful completion of doctoral programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) areas by underrepresented students.
- To increase the number of underrepresented students who will pursue academic careers.
- To bring about a systemic change in attitudes and practices of faculty, administrators, and students regarding minority pipeline issues.
- To provide graduate assistant supplemental support, summer research and bridge opportunities, professional and skills development seminars, and mentoring programs.
