The Office of Housing and Residence Life at Mississippi State offers year-round housing for visitors looking for an inexpensive, safe, convenient place to stay on campus. Herbert Hall, a 60-room facility, is within walking distance of all central campus buildings and offers convenient, free parking. All rooms are equipped with at least two single beds, linens, phone with voice mail, cable TV hookup, sink, MicroFridges (combination refrigerator, freezer, microwave), and ethernet hookup. Private bathrooms are not available. A large lounge area with a television, vending machines, ice machine and a full kitchen is located on first floor; upper floors each have a small lounge with a television, microwave, iron and ironing board. Coin-operated washers and dryers are located on second floor. A fully-equipped conference room may be available for reservations; check with Shay McDonnall for availability.
A conference assistant is on duty seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Messages received at the desk (662-325-2867) will be voice-mailed to the individuals' rooms. UPS or Federal Express packages should be addressed to Herbert Hall. An access card reader is located on every outside door, on every stairwell, and on every wing, to limit building access to the registered guests and residents. Guests are issued room keys and building access cards at check-in.
The custodial staff is responsible for cleaning the hallways, restrooms, and lobby areas. Guests are responsible for their individual rooms.
During the summer, approximately 8,000 guests visit campus and stay in our residence halls. Youth organizations, athletic camps, and many adult groups take advantage of the convenience and low cost.
