The mathematics honor society Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME) and the student chapter of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) invite all students interested in mathematics to join and become involved with us in furthering undergraduate mathematics at Mississippi State University. The Mississippi Beta Chapter of KME was one of the seven founding chapters of the national organization in 1932, and has initiated over 800 members since that time. Membership is by invitation to students in the upper third of their class who have completed (or will complete by the end of the current term) 12 semester hours in mathematics at the level of calculus or above, with a minimum grade of B. New initiates are entitled to a two year subscription to The Pentagon, the journal of the national organization. The MAA is a national organization committed to supporting teaching and research in mathematics at all levels. Membership in the student chapter of the MAA is open to any student interested in mathematics. Payment of annual dues entitles the member to participate in all activities of the local group (held in conjunction with meetings of KME) as well as a choice of subscriptions to Math Horizons, Mathematics Magazine, the College Mathematics Journal, or the American Mathematical Monthly, published by the MAA national organization.
