Dr. Kweku Ainuson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, where he teaches classes in the areas of comparative politics and international relations as well as classes in the African American studies program. He comes to us from Clemson University, where he taught a Model United Nations class and an Introduction to International Relations class, as well as served for five years as a research assistant for the Strom Thurmond Institute of Government and Public Affairs.
Professor Ainuson's research interests pertain to coalition politics and infrastructure development in Africa, the relationships between Africans in Africa and Africans in the Diaspora, and African politics more generally. He has published in the journals Public Integrity and PS: Political Science and Politics. He is also active in making presentations at professional conferences. His dissertation topic was "Ensuring Adequate Water Supply to Disadvantaged Urban Communities in Ghana."
Dr. Ainuson holds a Ph.D. in Policy Studies from Clemson University. He also holds an MPA from Clemson University and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Georgia. His Bacholor of Laws degree is from the University of Ghana, Legon. At the Strom Thurmond Institute of Government and Public Affairs, Ainuson prepared a report for a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee of the South Carolina General Assembly, researched education finance in the state, and created a self-portrait of South Carolina drawn from survey data analysis and a content analysis of state newspapers.
