Mission Statement
Student Support Services is a federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Education
TRIO programs. This program is designed to provide academic support and instruction to low-income,
first generation college students, and college students with disabilies who have academic needs and
potential to succeed in higer education. Additionally, Student Support Services is responsible for housing
documentation of all students with disabilities who identify themselves to the university and request
accommodations. The type of services and accommodations provided depend on the needs of the individual
student. In general, sevices include advocacy, priority registration, testing services, counseling and guidance,
career development, supplemental instruction, and tutoring. Student Support Services serves as the
coordinating body for services, provided to students with disabilities by other divisions within the university, as
well as by state rehabilitation agencies.
