| · | The NADL closure has resulted in a nearly 1-year delay in launching the NCID Project. |
| · | USDA is working to re-establish the NADL as a private/public sector service enterprise that can serve the needs of the ADDS programs. |
| · | NCID Project Coordinator (Jensen) and Chief Editor (Brunson) have concluded that it is prudent to move forward with the NCID Project, despite the absence of a "NADL" to serve the project. |
| · | Rather than wait for a new NADL to be established and develop the protocol for receipt of materials for review, NCID will immediately issue the "Call for Submissions" of materials for review, and then develop an alternative to use of the NADL for development of the software product. |
| · | |
| The NCID IEG also spent
considerable time discussing other project protocol and procedure issues. The Array of
subject matter areas was reviewed, and currently includes 37 Subject areas, each with a
different Lead Editor assigned. Lead Editors
represent 12 Land Grant Institutions, 6 federal Agencies, and 14 states. Lead Editor vacancies
created by several retirements were filled by designated individuals. Comprehensive updated information on the NCID Project can be accessed on the NCID page of the MSU-ES Web Site at http://ext.msstate.edu. |
