Pi Omega Pi
Pi Omega Pi is a national honor society for
student pursuing a degree in business teacher education. The Alpha
Pi Chapter of Pi
Omega Pi was chartered in 1939 at Mississippi State University and
is sponsored by the Department of Instructional Systems, Leadership & Workforce
Development. Dr. Connie Forde serves as faculty advisor. New members who meet the national society eligibility requirements
are initiated at formal initiation ceremonies in the fall and spring
semesters. Membership in Pi Omega Pi is the highest honor a student
majoring in business teacher education can achieve in his/her professional
field.
Alpha Pi members complete the following activities:
- Plan and participate in local programs and activities
sponsored by the chapter,
- Plan and implement local, community, and national
projects for national competition,
- Attend state business education conferences,
and
- Attend biennial national Pi Omega
Pi conventions which meet in conjunction with the National Business
Education Association
