Educational Specialist in Technology (Ed.S.)

A candidate for the Master's degree lacking 6 or fewer hours for graduation may complete his schedule with course(s) and have these counted on the Educational Specialist degree, provided the student has prior approval from the major professor and meets all regular admission requirements for the Educational Specialist degree.

The Educational Specialist degree is a planned program of at least 31 semester hours above the Master's degree. Students must have earned a minimum of 60 graduate hours beyond the bachelor's degree. The program is designed to broaden leadership training by providing opportunity for the student to pursue courses of study in other fields and disciplines which are supplementary to the basic core in the major field.

The 31 hours of course work will be divided as follows:
Technology Emphasis - 12-24 hours
EPY 6214 - Educational and Psychological Statistics
TKT 8000 - Special Problem or Thesis - 3 or 6 hours
Supporting Area(s) from Related Field in Professional Education OR Supporting Area(s)
Outside Professional Education 0-12 hours

Course Requirements for the Educational Specialist program with an emphasis in Technology shall include the following.
EPY 6214 - Educational and Psychological Statistics
TKT 7000 - 3 hours of Directed Individual Study

The remaining program hours will be selected by the student and the graduate committee with special attention given to the student's career objectives. A minimum of 15 hours of the program must be credits earned in technology course work (TKB, TKI, TKT). At least one half of the program must be courses with 8000 or higher numbers.

Graduate programs that are the basis for licensure, such as the Education Administrator License, have special entrance requirements. A letter that is sent directly to students informs them of their acceptance into the program in the Department of Instructional Systems, Leadership, and Workforce Development and indicates the faculty advisor they have been assigned. All students are given a faculty advisor at the time of acceptance into the program.
