| Farmweek
is Mississippi's only statewide agricultural news program aired on the
Mississippi
Public Broadcasting and it comes from Mississippi State University.
The program is produced by the Mississippi
State Extension Service
through the Office of Agricultural Communications
and with the support of the University Television Center. Each week a crew
of ten or more staff members of the Television Center work together to
produce this high quality news program that reaches more than 95,000 homes
throughout the state. The Center provides video artists, animators, videotape
operators, a technical director and director, and engineers to support
this award winning production.
The show hosts, Artis Ford and Leighton Spann, travel throughout the state to gather material for feature stories about Mississippi agriculture and trends in the agribusiness community that can effect this important Mississippi industry. These stories are edited together and rolled in as part of each program produced at the studio of the Television Center. |

On special occasions, Farmweek takes to the road to bring up-to-date information to the show's growing viewing audience. Farmweek has originated from national and regional cotton and soybean meetings where industry experts could be interviewed on relative topics. These remote programs are produced using the Television Center's remote production truck and KU-band transportable uplink. | |
| Farmweek has won numerous national awards through the years from the Agricultural Communicators in Education (ACE), and regional awards from the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters, and from the College Public Relations. | ||
