"Research Administration 101: What (Graduate) Students Need to Know About Working on Sponsored Projects"

March 29, 2016
3:00 pm to 4:30 pm

About this event

Faculty mentors play a significant role in training the future scientific community. However, there is much for future PIs to learn about the non-technical aspects of managing institutional research as well. This presentation is a “crash course” for student researchers and those seeking such opportunities to learn about the administrative issues affecting their involvement in the university research enterprise. Stephanie Hyche, assistant director of Mississippi State's Office of Sponsored Programs Administration, will discuss opportunities for student engagement by key federal agencies. Other topics of discussion include Research Administration and the role of the institution in the award from proposal to closeout; policies regarding student salaries and benefits, publication and intellectual property rights. Resources for strengthening
proposal writing skills also will be shared. Click the "Link" below to register. You must have an MSU ID to register online.
