Mississippi State’s Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures is hosting its inaugural symposium at The Mill at MSU in Starkville. Titled “Displacement in Language, Literature and Culture,” the free-to-all event will feature English and Spanish presentations exploring the topic of displacement from various disciplinary and interdisciplinary angles. From noon-2 p.m., MSU Associate Professor of French Keith Moser will sign copies of his new book, “The Encyclopedic Philosophy of Michel Serres: Writing the Modern World and Anticipating the Future” (Anaphora Literary Press, 2016). Also on Friday at 4 p.m., Luis Hernán Castañeda will deliver a keynote address titled “The Art of Losing a Country.” An assistant professor of Spanish at Middlebury College in Vermont, Castañeda is a native of Lima, Perú.
