Today by 5 p.m. is the submission deadline for 2017 Volunteer Award nominations. Every April, Volunteer Starkville and Mississippi State University's Maroon Volunteer Center co-host a Volunteer Awards Banquet to recognize individuals and groups who have performed amazing service in their local communities during the past calendar year. At the banquet, Volunteer Starkville will honor 25 individuals and 15 groups (not affiliated with MSU as a faculty, staff or student). Three distinguished awards - Community Volunteer of the Year, Community Volunteer Group of the Year, and Community Volunteer Group Effort of the Year - also will be presented. All MSU faculty, staff and students need to be nominated through the university's Maroon Volunteer Center at www.mvc.msstate.edu.
