MEMORANDUM FOR ALL CADETS FROM: CORPS SS OFFICER SUBJECT: BASEBALL USHERING I got a phone call from the Mr. Tomlinson from the athletic department yesterday afternoon on the subject of baseball ushering over Super Bulldog Weekend. He informed me that people who had signed up for Sunday's game were late, using church as an excuse for their tardiness. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. When you sign up to work baseball games, you are committing yourself to be at the appointed place at the designated time. Failure to take responsibility for your commitments reflects poorly upon yourself, your flight, your corps, and your air force. Irresponsible and undependable are not words that you should want yourself and your unit to be described as. If you sign up for a game and you cannot be there at the appropriate reporting time, that it is your duty and obligation to find someone you can to cover for you until you get there, you know this. The message left by Mr. Tomlinson ended with the following statement: "If you wish to continue working the baseball games, this cannot happen again." At the beginning of the season I warned everyone that we were in danger of losing this contract; right now we are flirting with disaster, the corps has no other annual fundraiser that can generate the funds that baseball ushering does. I put my faith in the corps that we could get this done effectively and gave the athletic department a personal assurance that we would not have these problems again this year. Not only are you disappointing me be shirking your responsibilities, but you are letting down your friends, flight mates, corpsmen and cadre. The following people have signed up for games this weekend on the respective dates; report times are also listed. YOU WILL BE AT THE BASEBALL STADIUM NO LATER THAN THE PRESCRIBED REPORTING TIME. NO EXCEPTIONS. Fri., Apr 28 Sat., Apr 30 RT: NLT 1545 RT: NLT 1045 SHUFF SHUFF MILLER, A. MILLER, K. FRAISER SHACKLEFORD ZELLNER GOODWIN SHACKLEFORD MISTROT LINDSAY HOLMES GRACE & GRACE & PITTS GRIM If your name appears on either of these lists YOU MUST send an email to raj4@ra.msstate.edu acknowledging the receipt of the email and an affirmation that you will fulfill your obligations. I do not want to hear and will not accept excuses for why you might miss or be tardy for this weekends games; find someone to replace you, let that change be reflected on the master schedule in the cadet offices, and then email that change to me. If I receive another phone call that cadet are being irresponsible, punitive actions will be taken against the offending cadets. Questions regarding baseball ushering may also be sent to raj4@ra.msstate.edu; other questions, comments, or cries of outrage will not be acknowledged. ROBBI A.
