This message has been posted to the Business and Computer Technology Teachers Discussion List. Would any of you like to do some technology training in your lab for vocational and technical education teachers (including Tech Prep) in the state? I would like to set up some regional sites so that teachers do not have to travel far for training. I have tentatively thought about 2 weeks (ten separate days) with each topic being on a different day. For example, if I know how to do word processing, but want to learn more about spreadsheets, I might just attend the session on the day that is covered. I will work with MDE to get ceu credit. The tentative topics might be: Day 1 Introduction to the Computer Working with the operating system--Windows Day 2 Getting and using an email account Joining and using educational listservs Day 3 Using the WWW for research and to teach Blackboard Day 4 Using Microsoft Word to prepare lesson plans, reports, papers, letters to parents, tests, etc. Day 5 Using Microsoft Excel to average grades and keep up with budgets, fundraising recordkeetping, etc. Day 6 Using Microsoft Acess to develop databases of students Day 7 Creating electronic multimedia presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint Day 8 Creating Realslideshows Using RealPresenter with PowerPoint presentations Day 9 Creating newsletters, letterhead, school calendars, web pages with Microsoft Publisher Day 10 PC maintenance and troubleshooting Your lab would need to have Office 2000 and Publisher software and Internet access. There may be parts of the list above that you do not know how to do, we can train you or possibly come do some of this for you. The purpose of this message is to see how many of you would be interested in doing some of this training in your labs. You would be paid of course. I would also like feedback on the topics of training. Are there other things that you think are more important for a teacher? Please let me hear back from you soon if you are interesed.
