WINTER RETREAT -- NOT TOO LATE
The BSU Winter Retreat will begin tonight at 6 PM. It is not too late to
sign up. The cost is $10. The response has been good, but we have room for
more. If you can make reservations today, that will help us plan food, but
if your plans change to allow you to come at the last minute, COME ON. We
are planning for extra. One of the best communicators in the country --
Jeff Powell -- will be speaking on "5 Prayers that Will Change Your Life."
Chad Polk and Jason Elam will be leading music. Saturday, breakfast will
be served at 9 AM. The retreat will end around 3 PM. Come for part of the
retreat, if you cannot make the whole event.
CAEDMON'S CALL CONCERT -- Tuesday, Feb. 16, 8 PM Lee Hall We are a part of
Caedmon's Call's College Tour, which includes Alabama and Auburn later in
the month. For those who are unfamiliar with Caedmon's Call, they are one
of the most popular and effective groups in the country. Their lyrics are
clear and thought provoking. Back in the early 80's, BSU sponsored an
artist about whom some asked, "Who is she?" Amy Grant went on to become
quite prominent, so did Michael W. Smith, who was touring with her.
Tickets are on sale at the BSU here at MSU, Christian Resources on N.
Gloster in Tupelo, the Good Bookstore in College Park on Russell in
Starkville, and New Life Supplies on Alabama in Columbus. Next week they
will go on sale at the Union Ticket office on the second floor or the
Union. Also, key individuals have tickets to sell -- Richard Russo with
Greek Council for Christ, Joey Pensak with RUF, and, beginning next week,
Ethan Rietema with Campus Crusade.
MID WINTER SALE
As long as they last, Christival T-shirts will be on sale for $10. You
will want to have a reminder of Christival. It will also help to promote
future Christivals and serve as a springboard for conversation about life
in Christ. They will be great St. Patrick day shirts, and will look cool
for those cool nights during spring break.
SPRING BREAK TRIPS
Where will you be during Spring Break? Every year, after spring break,
students tell me, "Man, I should have gone on a spring break project."
This year we have three great ones: Honduras, BeachReach Panama City, and
Frostburg, Maryland. Each of these will be great projects. Sign up. Fill
out an application. Get the ball rolling now.
NEXT WEEK
Roland Delap will speak at BSU. If you have ever wondered how do you learn
scripture, come to hear Roland. He is the master at it. He will also share
with you how to share your faith effective through relationships with
friends and with strangers. He will speak at Priority at 6:15 PM Tuesday,
and Noonday at 12:00 on Wednesday.
CHURCHES IN STARKVILLE
This Sunday is a great time to check out one of the local churches in
Starkville. I think that you will find people who care and worship which
will satisfy. For fellowship, go to the college Sunday school.

"Tell God that you have, alas! no inclination to pray, and that you have
dragged yourself to your knees. Still you will be welcome!" W.E. Sangster,
