I agree totally about the laptop. It has meant the world to me. My principal requires me to check out my laptop if I am going to take it home. I think there should be something in writing that states the teacher is responsible for the laptop if taken from school property. This could be signed at the begining of the year and the teacher would be responisible. I am going to an F site next year. I am very disappointed that we will not be getting laptops. I value mine more than ever. I encourage everyone to repsond to list and maybe some way to get it to the state department. Having the laptop is the best teacher resourse for me. Having only 50 minutes of planning time during the day I have to do alot of work at home. michelle endsley hardy middle school jackson ----Original Message Follows---- Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 09:40:17 +0000 From: Shannon & Kimmy Eubanks <eubanks@telepak.net> Subject: Re: computerdisc-l: teacher's workstation--laptop To: Computer Discovery Mailing List <computerdisc-l@Lists.MsState.Edu> I was shocked at the mention that that the F sites would not be getting a laptop. I have used mine a great deal and have found it to be a great asset at home. I wonder why some school districts have not allowed this, since the equipment was bought by the State, the districts should not be allowed to mandate how it is used. It seems that the State could have stated that a provision of buying the equipment would allow the teachers to take home the laptops. A suggestion would be, to allow the districts to choose a laptop or a desktop. Which ever would be more beneficial to the school and the teacher.
