Felicia, I went all first semester last year without computers. It was nearly the end of October before I even got books. That is not to scare you into thinking you will be in the same shape, but it is to let you know you can and will survive! I taught the history of the computer. This took about two weeks. I started with the abacus and went all the way to present time. There is a web site from a Maureen Pischeria? I think that is wonderful. It has a lot of great stuff on there. I hope you have Internet access because there is tons of information there. Have the students write reports on the founders of technology - Paul Allen, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, etc. I also let them work through many activities from the Journey Inside. If you have not gotten this wonderful kit from Intel, you need to. It is free and has lots of neat things. Go to Intel.com and look under education. I also let my students do several of the career activities. Since these students will not have Career Discovery, you can expose them to many of these activities. I also taught Keyboarding rules, ethics, machine language, and anything I could find that related to the computer. Here are some great web sites to look at. http://www.cybercomm.net/~learn/computer_ap/index.html#Rules http://www.angelfire.com/ks/tonyaskinner/index.html http://www.tcm.org/html/history/index.html http://www.crews.org/media_tech/compsci/ These are just a few of the great web sites I found. Hopefully you have the Internet too. That is the most valuable resource I had. I spent many, many, many, many hours on the Internet scouring for information. I am a perfectionist; so if I can survive in a less than perfect setting for that long a time, you can too. So keep your chin up and don't get down. Good luck. Michelle
