Re: computerdisc-l: B Site Upgrades

The information I have came from our Tech Prep Coordinator. He wanted us to
get some of our parents together to contact members of the legislature and
convey the message of how important it is for our students to receive
computer training and on UPDATED equipment.

I am an A site and did get the upgrade this year. I am not sure we could
have gone much longer with our old equipment. Major problems continued to
"crop up" on a daily basis. I am sure there would be almost no way for us
to teach such things as Power Point on the old equipment. The computers did
not have enough RAM or hard drive space for anything like Power Point.
There were times we were researching on the Net and using Microsoft Works at
the same time and continued to get screen freezes!! To be honest, I am told
we didn't really have enough "power" to run Windows and Netscape at the same
time.

As you all know, no matter what occupation our students choose, they will be
coming in contact with computers or computerized equipment. Even the
garbage trucks in my city are computerized. We must have the means to
pepare our students for life ahead!!
