Our school also uses Word and my lab is Works. I've tried to be clear to my students that all wordprocessor programs offer basically the same thing. The name may be slightly different or under a different menu heading, but to just take the time to look for it and to use their heads. I have found the ones that are adventurous have no problem. But isn't that always the case. Believe it or not Works and Word are compatible. I know that you can save most Word software in Works form in the Saveas option by changing the text type. Then a disk can be used in my lab as well. Works is very student friendly. Using it as a stepping stone to future wordprocessors works for me.
