PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO 10 UNDECIDED VOTERS! _____________________________________________________________________ Dear Friends, Only three days until Election Day! When you are out and about today, don't forget to remind people that a critical election in coming up on Tuesday. Polls are open all day, so there's no excuse not to vote! ******************************************************************** The Big Choice 3 Days Out: Forward Or Back? Al Gore Will Make the Right Choices to Help Move America Forward Speaking to voters in Tennessee, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, Al Gore today focused on the big choice voters face on Election Day: "Will we move America forward, or will we go back to the failed policies of the past?" Making the right choices to move the country forward, Gore would extend the nation's prosperity to all families by paying down the national debt, cutting taxes for middle-class families and investing in education, health care and a secure retirement. "In just three days, the people of America will face a choice -- a simple, but important choice," said Gore. "Will we move America forward, or will we go back to the failed policies of the past? We have to make the right choices to move America forward -- to extend our prosperity and make sure that it enriches not just the few, but all our families." George W. Bush would send the nation back to the failed policies of the past. His massive tax cut would bust the budget and benefit the wealthiest the most. The independent Citizens for Tax Justice found that 43 percent of Bush's $1.6 trillion tax cut is targeted directly at the few Americans who make more than $300,000 a year. The American Academy of Actuaries has released a study that definitively states that Bush's economic plans would return the nation to deficits and "make it all but impossible to eliminate the publicly held national debt." THE ECONOMY, PROSPERITY: FORWARD OR BACK? ·Gore would maintain fiscal discipline, balancing the budget and paying down the debt each year. Debt reduction would free capital to encourage economic growth and keep interest rates lower to help families afford home mortgages and pay for student and car loans. ·Bush's economic plan would put prosperity in peril, returning the nation to deficits and making it impossible to eliminate the debt. When combined with his other spending proposals, Bush's tax cut would overspend the surplus by $1.1 trillion. TAX CUTS: FORWARD OR BACK? ·Gore would offer $500 billion in family tax cuts to help middle-class families afford childcare and long-term care, pay for college and save for retirement. ·Bush's massive tax cut would put prosperity in peril, returning the nation to deficits and making it impossible to eliminate the debt. Almost half of Bush's tax cuts are targeted to those who make more than $300,000 a year or, on average, nearly $1 million a year. RETIREMENT SECURITY: FORWARD OR BACK? ·Gore would take steps to protect Social Security for seniors and provide a new choice to encourage younger workers to save for retirement. He will protect Social Security in an off-budget "lock-box," saving surpluses for Social Security's future. Gore's new tax-free savings accounts will encourage younger couples to save for retirement with government incentives. ·Bush has made a promise he cannot keep. He has admitted that he would drain $1 trillion of the Social Security Trust Fund into private accounts for younger workers, but he has also promised the same money to seniors for their Social Security checks. EDUCATION: FORWARD OR BACK? ·Gore will fight to bring about major change in education. His comprehensive plan would raise standards for every child by creating smaller, more disciplined classrooms with highly qualified teachers. He would promote choices for every family with expanded pre-school, more charter schools and make most college tuition tax-deductible. ·Bush offers families a hollow education plan that fails to put any new teachers in the classroom or provide necessary funds for school construction. His voucher plan gives up on public schools, forcing states to siphon taxpayer money to support private institutions. HEALTH CARE: FORWARD OR BACK? ·Gore will expand health care choices for families with a real Patients' Bill of Rights that empowers patients to choose their own doctor and a voluntary prescription drug benefit for everyone on Medicare that allows seniors to choose their doctor and pharmacy. Gore would move step-by-step toward health coverage for all by providing access to quality, affordable health insurance to all children and millions of adults by the end of 2004. ·Bush does not support a strong, national Patients' Bill of Rights. His pharmaceutical industry-backed prescription drug plan leaves out millions and would raise premiums, forcing many seniors into HMOs. As governor of Texas, Bush prioritized large tax cuts and an "emergency" tax cut for big oil companies over children's health coverage, and fought efforts to expand health insurance to 220,000 low-income Texas children. 1.4 million of the nation's 11 million uninsured children live in Texas. ____________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from Gore-Lieberman Mail, please send a blank message to: mailto:remove-31639055-16778997-8chrqh.6z.3kw@cheetahmail.com Your privacy is a priority @ algore.com.
