The tape features an introduction by U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige, encouraging teachers to discuss the attacks in their classes. The video, "September 11, 2001: A Turning Point in History - The First 30 Days," opens with Paige's introduction, then moves onto a montage of the attack and its immediate aftermath. Next are CNN Newsroom and CNN reports that, collectively, tell the story of the first 30 days, giving background information and historical context. All content has been screened to be age-appropriate for a secondary school audience. Nine areas are covered in the tape: The President Responds; Rescue and Recovery; Target: Terrorism; A Glimpse of Islam; Consumer Confidence; Security vs. Freedom; The American Spirit; Remembering the Twin Towers; and The War on Terrorism. Holt, Rinehart and Winston will offer an additional two-tape set to schools beginning in February 2002. For more information on the two-tape set, call (800) 225-5425. ---- Tiger Woods Foundation, Panasonic Donate A/V Equipment to Inner-City Schools The Tiger Woods Foundation and Panasonic plan to donate audio and video equipment to inner-city schools starting with the Thomas A. Edison Middle School in Los Angeles, Calif., in an attempt to reinforce learning. Students will use the equipment in Panasonic's Kid Witness News program, a hands-on video education program created to encourage the development of cognitive, communication and organizational skills through the use of video. The Thomas A. Edison Middle School was chosen because, although the campus has become a hub of after-school and weekend activity and serves as a safe haven for youths, many students have suffered from inadequate learning resources and frequent teacher turnover, according to program organizers. For more information about the Kid Witness News program, visit http://www.panasonic.com/meca/kwn/index.html. For more information about the Tiger Woods Foundation, visit http://www.twfound.org. ---- Holiday-Themed Software Teaches and Entertains Educators and parents looking to keep young children entertained without losing valuable learning time this holiday season, can do that and donate cash to teachers by purchasing CD-Romuald, a colorful Christmas software title, through http://www.classroomcash.com. The CD is full of fun activities that stimulate young creative minds, including creating holiday greeting cards, composing music, learning about the solar system and more. A cartoon tour guide named Buddy Guide offers helpful hints and insights as the user navigates through the site. Students and parents can tour the "3 Steps to Success," which cover financial aid options, information about LoanStar and choosing a LoanStar-certified lender.
