This Week's Special Features
Veterans Day Lesson Plans and Ideas
http://www.teachervision.com/lesson-plans/lesson-6674.html

The events of September 11, 2001, have focused a great deal of our attention
on
the men and women serving in the armed services. That makes Veterans Day
this
year more significant than usual. The folks at TeacherVision.com have
collected
an
outstanding set of links and resources to help you plan your Veterans Day
lessons and activities.

Email Card Center
http://www.teachervision.com/tv/cardcenter/index.html

Here's a new, fun-filled feature from TeacherVision -- e-cards! Select the
design, personalize the message, and zip the card off to your family and
friends. It's fast and fun.

Message Boards
http://connect.familyeducation.com/webx/webx.dll?14@@

If you've got questions, you may find the answers at the FamilyEducation.com
message board center. Message boards are a form of "asynchronous"
communication.
That means the reader and the writer are not required to be online at the
same
time. They
give us a great way to collect and share information between an assortment
of
sources. You'll find an extensive list of boards you can visit, read, and
even
post a message on if you'd like.

Teen Learning Network
http://teenlearningnetwork.com/index_en-US.html

Welcome to TLN, the college planning site with attitude! Designed especially
for
high-school teens, this site is packed with information and help with
selecting
a college, writing the dreaded college essay, preparing for SATs, and lots
more.
You'll want to explore TLN and see how you can work it into your college
prep
curriculum.

Kids Learning Network
http://klnlive.com/kln/

KLN is a great place for "tweeny" kids to participate in moderated chats,
play
educational games, find homework help, and voice their opinions on a variety
of
topics. Check it out -- you'll want to add this site to your homework
resource
list.

What Other Teachers Are Doing

What do our spotlighted teachers include on their websites? Lots of creative
ways to give us a snapshot of life in their schools. These are some of the
folks
who wrote in last week to tell us what's new on their sites:

Using Java Scripts
Most of the slick little features you see on other folks' websites are
created
through simple Java scripts. Java is one of many computer programming
languages.
Don't panic -- you don't need to learn the code. You simply have to follow
the
directions to copy and paste the code into your Advanced Page, and insert
the
images and text you want to use. Sound too simple to be true? Well, the
first
time you look at the source code or script, you'll feel a moment of panic.
But
don't worry....it really is pretty easy to do.

Want to add a slide show to your class website? Mrs. Richie did with this
student showcase. Scroll down toward the bottom of this page to take a look.

Mrs. Price used Java script for her hatching chick project. She added the
images
inside a marquee so that the pictures slide across your screen.

Do you cover basic facts about the states? Adding this Java code created a
neat
states trivia information box to Mr. O'Donnell's site.

Let us know what's new on your site so we can feature you in an upcoming
newsletter.

Working with Folders
http://myschoolonline.com/article/0,1120,12-13141,00.html

It's time to organize your website. As you and your site helpers add pages
to
your site, the pages are added to the long list on the left side of your
screen.
It gets harder to find just what you're looking for quickly as the list
continues to grow. That's where folders come in. Here's our tutorial on
creating
and using folders.
